Our journey to launching: It didn’t go to plan (and that’s okay)

THE JOURNEY SO FAR: CRAFTING OUR DREAM

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few months, it’s this: nothing ever goes quite to plan.

Theodore Soap Co.® didn't happen overnight. We originally planned to launch on the 1st of January. We had it all pictured, new year, new business. But real life (and small babies) don’t always follow our timelines. February soon rolled around, then March, then... well, you get the picture. After countless late-night research sessions, labels redesigned for the umpteenth time, and a whole lot of learning, we've had those quiet breakthroughs where we think, "We've actually done it," only to face yet another delay.

Back in December, our social media took off. The excitement was incredible, but as Christmas and New Year crept closer, reality hit. As much as we wanted to start selling straight away, there was still so much to do behind the scenes. Cosmetic regulations, safety assessments, certificates, labelling requirements, insurance, packaging decisions and what felt like a never-ending list of rules with a lot of “you must do this before you can do that,”... our quick start soon turned into a slow, careful tiptoe forwards. 

So we pressed pause.

We took a step back from posting and focused on getting it right rather than getting it rushed. This meant a lot of late nights reading legal documents while the little one slept, triple-checking ingredients and labels, fixing website glitches all while learning a whole new language of compliance and regulation.

There were definitely times where it felt like we were being tested, and plenty of moments spent wondering if we were crazy to  embark on this journey now, of all times.

But it was worth it.

Because now… we are here.
Now, we are ready.

A small family balancing big dreams with the beautiful chaos of everyday life. Celebrating the tiny victories such as a full night’s sleep or a new milestone and tending a garden where the weeds are currently winning the battle against everything we actually planted (yes, I said it...WEEDS! They're currently growing in quantities far beyond useful).

We've spent the last six months learning how to build a website and everything that comes with it. At the moment, it feels like we have monthly expenses for what’s still just a nice idea... but you have to have the right insurance, right?

This is small business in its truest form: messy, magical, and deeply intentional.

And we're inviting you to come along with us from the very beginning.
